St. Louis Spousal Support Attorneys

The laws dealing with spousal support, commonly referred to as alimony, continue to change with the times. In the past, spousal support became a focal point in divorce litigation, particularly in cases involving women who were stay-at-home mom's during the course of the marriage. Now, more men than ever before are qualifying for spousal support. No matter what side of the issue you are on, it is important to have an experienced attorney making your case.

At Green Cordonnier & House LLP, we represent men and women throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and neighboring counties in divorce proceedings. We are rated AV Preeminent* by Martindale-Hubbell and have the resources to aggressively pursue a result that is in your best interest.

No Guidelines for Spousal Support

Unlike child support, there are no statutory guidelines for spousal support. Both spouses are entitled to seek spousal support based on their former standard of living, their ability to support themselves and the ability of their spouse to pay

Even if a compelling case can be made for spousal support to be granted, there is no guarantee a judge will agree. The court will expect that both people are doing everything possible to support themselves and, if not, will not be likely to order spousal support.
