Missouri Relocation and Child Move-Away Laws
The law in Missouri states that a parent cannot move out of the jurisdiction of the court for more than 90 days without consent of his or her child's other parent. In almost all situations, you are essentially married to the state of Missouri until your child is 18 years old, unless the other parent approves of the relocation.
Parents must seek court permission to relocate and must present the judge with a valid reason. For example, in order to relocate for a job, the job must be one that is not available in your area. Or, the job must represent enough of an income increase to make the move in the best interest of the child.
